I can't believe I get paid for this!

I feel it is my duty to give some positive energy back to the universe after a painful 3 month job search which finally resulted in me finding my current job.

First let me begin by saying that I have worked for some of the biggest assholes I've ever met. They were so rotten to their core and so abusive that I used to cry on my way to work each morning. I didn't know it was possible to be happy at a job. I sincerely mean that. Until now, that is.

I am a fairly smart person and spent 3 months looking for an administrative assistant job. My resume covered 10 yrs of related job experience and my references were all excellent. No one wanted me and although I knew better than to take it too personally, the rejection was starting to wear me down emotionally.

Okay- now for the good part. The job I ended up being offered (the ONLY job I was offered) is a position with a very nice family business 30+ yrs strong. I've been here a month now and still get phone calls daily from different members of the family (the owners + their adult manager children) to check on me (I work in one of their smaller branches)

They sent me flowers on my first day as a way of saying thanks for joining their team.

I assist with the partners here but they are all very self sufficient and do their own faxing/copying etc. If they ask me to do anything, it's only because they are swamped.

I answser phones and help the person on the other end in whatever way I can. I was instructed, however, that I am NOT anyone's personal secretary and that I don't have to take messages. I simply transfer calls for partners to their personal voicemail.

I have about 10 reports due a month that all have different deadlines. Each report takes roughly 2-3 hours to prepare- and that's if I am lazy and procrastinate. It would take less time if I worked on them as information came in.

I put together case files and make sure they are organized correctly and are where they're supposed to be.

I have a cable connection to the internet with no restrictions on websites I may visit during down time. Yes, I was told this.

I don't punch a clock, and was told I can choose the hours of my liking. I can arrive anytime between 7:30 and 8:30.

I have a beautiful center reception desk and I work with NO OTHER FEMALE OFFICE EMPLOYEES. This is big for me because I find women to be incredibly vicious to one another.

I could go on, but that's enough bragging for one day. My only complaint would be that I am a little bored sometimes but after years of doing the daily crunch where there was NEVER enough minutes in an hour/hours in a day/days in a week etc, I think I can handle it. :)

Just so no one has to ask, I make $15.00/hr and the slight pay cut from my old job is worth every penny.

Thanks for reading and Thanks to
