If ever you make the mistake of applying for work at Keating of Chicago you need to read this. This is first hand knowledge from an insider:
1. You will be lied to from the interview on. Straight from the top owner. She will lie direct and even her kids that work there because no one else will hire or retain them.
2. You will be affiliating with a company that has some serious equipment issues. On the fryer side their "pots" are leaking because of bad welds around the burner tubes. This is a big time problem that can be seen on a "pot matrix" that lists each and every pot that has failed for years and years.
On the griddle side there is a serious problem with the griddle plate not sealing with the perimeter stainless steel. Liquid grease and cooking fluids get in the crevices, solidify and then enlarge the seam the way water turning to ice does in cold temperatures.
3. Turnover is incredible. Just about everyone who works in the office knows that the front door is a revolving one. Ofcourse, this is always the hired persons fault. From day one you will be peppered with names and stories of past employees who did the company wrong. Within your first few weeks, management conduct will show you in various ways how you will be next. Those comments and your intuition are not wrong - the ownership has unrealistic expectations and it won't be long before the target is on your back. Keep your resume out there!!! And on top of all that, "JB" will help pin the target on your back by smiling to you and then selling you down the river to the owner and her kids. He will incite the owner's son easily as he is far removed from the pulse of the company and is quick to draw conclusions. You ever waive a dog biscuit in front of a dogs face, see how it follows your every move? You get the idea. JB gains job security by jeopardizing yours. And the best part about it, the ownership is blind to see this.
Bottom line, stay away unless you are one of these idealistic, I can save the world types. Again, just the facts. See the truth and the truth will set you free.
Nothing above is harsh or unfair, just the objective truth.
