I have a boss that knows nothing when it comes to running a business. He picks on me because he knows that I need my job, however he leaves the other girl in the office alone because she is the bookkeeper and he is afraid of her, he baby talks her and ignores me most of the time (no they are not involved), however I have to deal with him because I answer the phone and deal with customers. I never could figure out why he backs down to the other girl and shows favoritism to her, well now I believe it is because she knows alot about his financial situation, she also hates him with a passion but enjoys being safe from his crap. My boss claims to be a Christian and is married to a Pastor, however I have walked into his office several times only to catch him looking at porn and his language leaves alot to be desired, he gossips to vendors, sales reps and anyone else who will listen to his crap and judges everyone. He is rude to customers, does not return phone calls, is careless with the company's money and depends on me to cover his butt most of the time because he is constantly dropping the ball. I am prompt, take my work seriously, I'am friendly and mind my own business while other employees goof off, come in late to work, talk horrible and lie to him, yet they are the greatest! How does this man show appreciation for my efforts? He belittles me, pays me the least and when I finally crack and try to stand up for myself, he acts childish and talks like a little kid, then when I have tried in an adult manner to speak to him on the subject, he laughs in my face.
My blood pressure has really been high, I'am on medication for migraines and lately I have been having horrible headaches. My question to everyone is; how do I handle him? It hurts to hear him talk sweet to the other girl and let her do anything she wants while I work hard everyday, I'm thinking ear plugs might help but then I could not hear the phone.....darn. He also talks to me and acts nice when she is not around and has called me while I was on vacation behind her back, I never answered my phone. What a two face!
My boss is not someone that you can trust either. If I were to confide in him, he would run right out of his office and tell everyone what I said, he does this to everyone. We are talking about a 62 year old man who acts like a child, I have been there for 6 years now and still find it so frustrating, in fact, my blood pressure is starting to bother me while I'am typing this. His wife knows nothing of his actions and he freaks whenever she stops by and will not let me talk to her, she is half owner and it is her father's money that owns the company, my boss would have nothing without him.
The only thing that makes me feel better sometimes is knowing that he is not well liked by alot of people, he yells when he talks, clips his fingernails over my desk, belches in my face and spits on me everytime he talks to me at my desk. When I tell him to stop it, he makes fun of me, when my co-worker yells at him, he listens to her. Sometimes I just want to clobber him.
I have been looking for another job for quite some time with no luck and will continue to do so. How do I deal with this idiot? I understand that I just need to let it roll off my back, but it gets old. I enjoy my job, but the treatment from him really gets me down. I'am not a vengeful person, however I have vowed that when I leave there someday I will tell the Mrs. about her hubby's double life. Not trying to be a crybaby, just venting! Any suggestions?
