Harpy Saga may be at an end....

I recently received something in the mail from 'T' at the harpy's office. I had left a CD there and T had been kind enough to mail it to me. On it was a note that said in a nutshell that she had finally gotten out of the Harpy's office for good. I called her and thanked her for sending me my CD (since it was sort of a compilation of music that's a little hard to find), and asked her how she managed to get out. Apparently, she quit. The harpy had been making so many racially charged comments it really started to get to her. She abused poor T to the very breaking point. For example, T told me that the harpy had told her to go to the local KFC and grab some fried chicken for lunch for her and the other person in the office, "Y", who is chinese. T said to her that Y didn't really eat that kind of stuff, and said that maybe they should ask her if she even wants any. The harpy replied, "Just tell her it's cat! They all eat cat, don't they???"
THEN, she added to T, who is black, "I know YOU'll like eating it anyways."

The harpy had made similar comments to me, not long after meeting my husband, who is also black. She had been watching some sleazy talk show on her television (which she kept on her desk), and commented, "Why do these black men always go after these poor, fat white girls and then run around on them and get them pregnant and then leave them?"
I was so shocked, I couldn't say much more than "Not everyone is that way."
She emphatically disagreed with me and in retrospect I really do believe she gets some kind of sick pleasure out of things like this.
Poor T had to go through this on a nearly daily basis. I don't know how she managed to tolerate it for so long.
Now we know the real reason she kept that derringer in her desk.... She's probably pissed off a lot of people!
In the meantime, T is filing for unemployment, citing a hostile work environment as her reason for quitting.
It's not often I wish ill on others, since I really think it's wrong, but I really hope this lady gets a taste of her own medicine, or has a debilitating stroke that leaves her half-paralyzed and unable to speak. I'd love to see her finally shut up.

She deserves to be sued, honestly. anonymous (09/14/2009) i seem to recall that very small outfits (below a certain target number of employees) cannot be sued and get away with this kind of behavior until the economy improves again. there is nothing to gain by suing her since she is running her business badly. assuming that she picks and chooses her clients according to her prejudices limits her income even more.
