Now that's cheap...

So my company is so cheap, I have to keep downloading a trial version of Altova Enterprise because my company won't buy a license. The response when I asked was "just change your system date and your copy will never expire". And I should mention our business for the 3rd quarter of this year was over 44 million - it isn't like we are hurting for money!

Oh yeah and FAMILIAR! One of my old bosses used to tell me to do this all the time with some software that I used that was used for like 80% of my job requirements. He was such a tool. Once I couldn't get it to take a changed date anymore even after I downloaded another trial and installed it. His response when I asked him to please just purchase it? Just the company, right? The items we do produce do go to a production environment - but at the end of the day XML is open source...so by looking at our code they could never tell it was used in their software. It is so cheap... but I've already complained about not having a monitor (except the laptop monitor that they expect all of us to use as our primary viewing piece), so I don't want to rock the boat anymore than I have. the confessor (01/20/2006) I once worked for a company that was so cheap that it wouldn't buy another computer monitor when one burned out. The manager said to just haul it from one station to another if necessary. The sole working monitor was dropped and we were forced to borrow an old black-and-white monitor from someone. After a while, we insisted that new replacements be found or else we would look for another job (this constituted about half the workforce of this tiny company). The manager issued a memo calling for a roster of "replacement strategies" that included one of us donating(!) one of our home monitors and checking "the landfills or transfer station for a free monitor". We cut a barter deal and quietly installed the two new monitors. The manager sulked that we had used unfair tactics "to get what we wanted"!! TheNewGuy (01/23/2006) Sounds like this freeware querying tool we have to use called Toad. Yes, you read that right. And it makes an annoying ribbit sound everytime it is opened.
